Ierland is topografisch gunstige loting.

UEFA Futsal Cup 2014-15 Preliminary draw

Rodrigo De Melo (Eden Futsal Club, Irish FAI Futsal Cup Champions)

Hello Futsal Focus fans

We are very excited about the UEFA Futsal Cup draw for the preliminary round which will see us take on Turkish club Istanbul Üniversitesi SK, Welsh club Wrexham Futsal and Dutch club Hovocubo.

The group will be very tough but at the same time it is exactly what we need and the experience that are younger players need. We are very excited to see what the squad is capable of and we are very confident in the squads abilities.

We will respect every club and we are certainly not approaching this competition with certainty of qualification. Wrexham Futsal Club have played us before in a very entertaining game for everyone who was involved or watching. The Turkish national team have been progressing up the Futsal world rankings so we are expecting Istanbul Üniversitesi SK to have some very good players, the club has won their league many times over the past four years so this will be a tough game.

Concerning qualification, we believe the club to beat is our European counterparts Hovocubo from the Netherlands. The Netherlands have a very strong national team who are currently 21st in the world rankings despite Futsal still growing there. We are very much looking forward to this game, it will be a difficult test but a good experience for the players should we be successful and win the group. We are confident in ourselves but will also be using our home advantage as host of the group and with our fans behind us, urging us on to give us an edge over all our opponents in the group.

UEFA Futsal Cup 2014-15 Preliminary draw

Richie Jones (Wrexham Futsal Club – Welsh FAW Futsal Cup champions)

Hi Futsal Focus fans

We at Wrexham Futsal Club are delighted to be competing in our second UEFA Futsal Cup competition for the second year in a row after retaining the FAW Futsal Cup trophy in what was one of the best and toughest seasons that we have had as Cardiff University pushed us all the way in both the league and cup final which ended with both clubs winning trophies, Cardiff winning the league and we won the cup.

Looking ahead to the approaching UEFA Futsal Cup group to be hosted in the Republic of Ireland by our Irish friends Eden Futsal Club, we are very excited and looking forward to the challenge of competing against strong and quality European opposition from Ireland, Turkey and the Netherlands. Our squad is missing some experienced players due to injury but we have quality in the young players who will be travelling with us and we believe in their ability to give every club a good game of Futsal.

The toughest game in the group will be Hovocubo from the Netherlands, like every club we will put out a team with the intention to compete as best as we can and win. However what is most important for our club at this stage in our development is for the players to enjoy themselves, learn from their experience, develop from it and should we not qualify for the main round this year, we will take our experiences and the new friendships that we have made and look to utilize them for the good of our players and the club so win can retain the FAW Futsal Cup for the third year in a row and compete at this level in Europe again.

Good luck to all teams we look forward to meet you on the court in the Republic of Ireland.
